1. Use of the App

PriceIt is a crowdsourced, AI-assisted price discovery application: it combines AI-powered scanning with prices submitted and verified by other users. By using it, you agree to:

• Eligibility: Use the app only if you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.
• Lawful Use: Use PriceIt only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.
• Account Responsibility: Create your account through our authentication provider (email, Google, or Apple sign-in), keep your credentials secure, and accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
• One Account Per Person: Not create or use multiple accounts to submit duplicate prices, farm points, or otherwise manipulate your trust score, the leaderboard, or a prediction market.
• No Misuse: Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the app or its underlying AI models.

2. Price Data: AI Estimates and Crowd-Verified Prices

PriceIt shows you two kinds of pricing information, and you acknowledge and agree that:

• AI Scan Estimates: When you scan an item, PriceIt uses the Google Gemini API to identify the product and generate a price estimate. This is an estimate only.
• Crowd-Verified Prices: Other prices shown in the app are derived from prices submitted by users along with photo evidence, which our systems and other contributors use to compute a consensus price and a confidence score.
• Informational Only: All prices and price estimates provided by PriceIt, however sourced, are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or binding quote of any kind.
• Accuracy: Prices may vary significantly based on location, market conditions, product condition, seller, and how recently a price was verified. PriceIt does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any price shown, and reserves the right to change how consensus prices, confidence scores, and trust scores are calculated at any time.
• No Financial Advice: Nothing in this app constitutes financial, commercial, or investment advice. You should independently verify prices before making any purchasing or selling decisions.

3. Your Price Submissions

If you submit a price along with evidence (such as a photo of a shelf tag or receipt), you agree that:

• Your submission must be genuine: The evidence you submit must be a real, unedited photo taken by you of a price you actually observed. Submitting fabricated, stock, or manipulated evidence, or a price you did not actually see, is a violation of these Terms.
• License to use your submission: You grant PriceIt a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, process, store, and display your submitted evidence and the price data derived from it — including sending it to our AI and verification service providers — for the purpose of operating and improving the app. You retain ownership of your evidence photos.
• Verification and rejection: We may accept, reject, or hold back any submission based on our verification process, at our discretion, without obligation to explain the specific reason.
• Consequences of fraud: Repeated or serious submission of false or misleading price evidence may result in a reduced trust score, loss of points, removal from the leaderboard, or suspension or termination of your account.

4. Points and Prediction Markets

PriceIt lets you use points to participate in prediction markets on whether a price will move a certain way. This feature is not a financial product, and you agree that:

• Points have no monetary value: Points are an in-app measure of participation and standing only. They cannot be purchased with money, cannot be redeemed, sold, transferred, or exchanged for cash or any other thing of monetary value, and have no value outside the app.
• Not gambling, not an investment: Prediction markets do not involve any wagering of real money, do not constitute gambling, and are not an investment, security, or derivative product of any kind.
• How markets settle: Markets resolve automatically against the verified consensus price for the relevant product at the resolution date. PriceIt does not manually pick a winner, but we reserve the right to void, delay, or adjust a market (for example, if the underlying price data is disputed, insufficient, or manipulated).
• Points balances may change: We may adjust, reset, expire, or grant points at our discretion, including to correct errors, prevent abuse, or as the feature evolves. We may also change or discontinue points and prediction markets at any time.
• No manipulation: You will not collude with other users, use multiple accounts, or submit false price evidence to influence the outcome of a prediction market.

5. Premium Subscription and Payments

PriceIt offers an optional paid Premium subscription. By subscribing, you agree that:

• Billing: Premium is billed in Nigerian Naira (NGN) through our payment processor, Paystack. PriceIt does not collect or store your card details.
• Renewal: Premium runs in fixed billing periods (currently 30 days) and does not automatically charge a saved card for the next period unless you actively renew; you are responsible for renewing before your current period expires if you want uninterrupted access.
• Refunds: Payments are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started, except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at the email in Section 14 and we will look into it.
• Price changes: We may change Premium pricing or what it includes going forward. Changes will not affect a period you have already paid for.

6. Intellectual Property

• Ownership: All content, design, code, branding, and materials within PriceIt are the intellectual property of PriceIt and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
• Limited License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
• Your Content: Section 3 (Your Price Submissions) governs the license you grant us over evidence photos and other content you submit. We do not claim ownership of your photos.

7. Third-Party Services

PriceIt integrates with third-party services to deliver its features:

• Google Gemini API: Used for AI-powered image analysis and price estimation, for both scans and submitted price evidence. Your use of PriceIt is subject to Google's Terms of Service.
• Google and Apple Sign-In: Used for authentication. Your use of these is subject to Google's and Apple's respective terms and privacy policies.
• Clerk: Used for user authentication and account management. Subject to Clerk's Terms of Service.
• Paystack: Used to process Premium subscription payments. Subject to Paystack's Terms of Service.
• No Endorsement: PriceIt is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party services.

8. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use PriceIt to:

• Upload or scan images that are illegal, obscene, or infringe on third-party rights.
• Submit fabricated, altered, or misleading price evidence, or claim a price you did not actually observe.
• Create or use multiple accounts, or collude with other users, to manipulate a trust score, the leaderboard, or a prediction market.
• Attempt to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the app or its infrastructure.
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or scrape data from the app without prior written consent.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Use the app for any commercial resale purpose, including reselling price data or building competing products based on our output.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

• As-Is Basis: PriceIt is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
• No Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, PriceIt and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app, including reliance on any price, trust score, or prediction market outcome shown in the app.
• Service Availability: We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the app, including our verification service or any third-party service we rely on. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service, or any feature of it, at any time without notice.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to PriceIt at our sole discretion, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms and Conditions or engaged in any fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity, including the submission manipulation and multi-accounting described in Sections 3, 4, and 8. Any points balance is forfeited on termination for cause, consistent with Section 4.

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Upon deletion, your account data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated terms within the app or on this page. Your continued use of PriceIt after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
