The Trust Engine

Many people, one honest number.

Nigerian markets have no website to scrape. So the crowd is the data — and the engine's job is to sort the true prices from the noise before you see anything.

The engine weighs it
Photo must match
A receipt or shelf tag has to back every price submitted — no photo, no counted price.
Odd ones out get caught
Prices far from the pack are held back automatically until more evidence comes in.
Track record counts
Contributors who are consistently right carry more weight in what the crowd decides.
Old prices fade
Last week's price counts less than this morning's — the engine always favours what's fresh.

Every price in PriceIt carries this number. No confidence, no price — we would rather say “we're not sure yet”.

Why weighting beats averaging

A plain average lets one careless or dishonest submission drag the whole number off. Instead, every submission is weighted by how well it matches the photo evidence, how far it sits from the rest of the pack, and the submitter's own track record — so a handful of trusted, verified prices outweighs a pile of unverified ones.

The confidence score you see is a direct readout of that process: how much evidence went in, how consistent it was, and how fresh it still is.

Stop guessing.
